Niles man wins big
Jimmie Ketchum is still in denial, even though he just won $500,000 on the Merry Millions Instant game.
Ketchum said he purchased the winning Merry Millions ticket with $10 he had previously won on another Instant game. His big win was a complete shock. Ketchum is the bar manager at the Hideaway Lounge.
The lucky 54-year-old winner, who has been playing the Lottery since 1989, said he plans to use the money to buy his daughter a house and pay off his son's home.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Phillips 66 Express Mart, 2560 Detroit Rd., in Niles.
Merry Millions is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at more than 10,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
